About Us
We are passionate amateur gardeners, and our mission is to encourage others to take up gardening.
With a bit of easily acquired knowledge it’s possible to grow a successful garden on your first try.
You can do well just knowing the basics. But, for those looking for more of a challenge, gardening also provides the opportunity for lifelong learning.
It’s an adventure. There is no end to the different kinds of planting and experimentation you can do.
Many life skills that people used to learn while growing up are no longer passed along from one generation to the next.
Growing and preserving food is less common today than it once was. It may be that people are so busy these days they don’t have the time and energy for more “work,” or they don’t have a place to grow a garden.
We have also heard that some people just don’t like gardening! Hard to believe, but true.
The funny thing is: if you do manage to fit gardening into your schedule, you will feel less stressed and more energized.
Though our parents had vegetable gardens, we really had to learn the basics ourselves. Our interest in gardening really began after we finished school and had worked for a few years.
Fortunately, we learned about canning and baking bread from our parents. Now we grow and preserve vegetables for our family and quite a few other people.
While harvesting, processing and preserving food takes time and effort, it’s an opportunity for your family to get together. Everyone involved always feels a real sense of accomplishment when the job is done.
Gardening provides tranquility in a chaotic world.
